This CD is produced in celebration of the 35th Anniversary of the Dutch organ building company Jan L. Van den Heuvel-Orgelbouw bv. The reputation of Van den Heuvel-Orgelbouw is established world-wide. The impressive 32' organs in France, Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden and Switzerland are famous. But the Van den Heuvel organ builders do not only consider the larger church and concert organs legitimate musical instruments, they plan, build, restore and maintain smaller pipe organs with equal care. Small Church Organs, Choir Organs etc. are an important part of their production too. Each pipe organ is custom built in order to meet with the special demands of the customer. Each organ is a work of art with its own destinctive architectural harmoney, technique and sound.
After the destruction of the famous Katarina Church in Stockholm in 1990 the church was rebuilt. In 2000 organ consultant Torvald Torén inaugurated the new Van den Heuvel organ (III/P, 62 stops) which was built in the typical French symphonic style as developed in the 19th Century by the great French organ builder Aristide Cavaillé-Coll. The new oak case is a copy of the 1751 case.
Anton Doornhein graduated at the Rotterdam Conservatory and thereafter finished his studies with Albert de Klerk, Kamiel d'Hooghe and Marie-Louise Langlais-Jaquet (at the Conservatoire International de Musique in Paris). Anton Doornhein was honoured with several important awards.
"Again a CD production celebration an anniversary... Interesting repertoire... the superb performance by Anton Doornhein is accompaned by an excellent recording of the instrument and its setting"
