From early childhood Jan L. van den Heuvel felt a special affinity with organ music. At sixteen he went to work for Dirk Flentrop in Zaandam. Jan set up his own organ building company in 1967 when he was twenty. In that same year Jan constructed his first organ. The construction activities took place in part of his fathers workshop as painter. In 1974 this organ was sold to the Christian Reformed Church in Maarssen (NL). On December 17th the organ was inaugurated by Ben van Oosten.
