Leerdam, Addulamkerk, Netherlands Reformed Congregation (17/II/P, 1989/2000)

In 1989 the Gereformeerde Gemeente Addullamkerk of Leerdam inaugurated their new Van den Heuvel organ. At that time the organ posses 9 stops, one manual and pedal. On request of the church committee Van den Heuvel designed and prepared at the moment he designed the organ possibilities to add additional stops and a second manual. The organ was handcrafted with slider chests and mechanical key and stop action. A wide variety of different woods were used as African sipo mahogany, French oak, ebony, redwood, etc.

The years afterwards the community grew and proposals were developed for a new church. There were two options for the organ: relocation to the new church without making any additions and relocation with additional stops (all adjusted to the size of the new church and capacity of seats).  After lengthly negotiations the decision was made to add a second manual and and larger pedal.

In 1989 an additiona reservation on the Great was prepared by Van den Heuvel on his cost.  This extra space provided now room for a new Cornet V on a mounted toe board. A new Trompet 8' stop replaced the relative soft Hobo 8'. The console was enlarged with a second manual and the usual couplers. New stop knobs of black ebony were made for the new stops.

Works on the organ case included construction of new doors on both sides for accessing the new pipe work of the second manual and the new pedal stop. In cooperation with architect Van Beijnum and the building company De Ruiter Leerdam bv the new organ loft was made by Van den Heuvel. The gallery and organ case recieved a transparend finish.

When the installation of the organ in the new church was completed the pipe work was (re)voiced in cooperation with consultant Herman van Vliet.

In 2011 a Vox Humana 8' was added to the specification of the second manual.
