Hervormde Kerk, Nunspeet (2020)

In 1872 the firm of L. van Dam and Sons placed a new organ with two manuals and pulldown pedals in the Dorpskerk of Nunspeet. It had 17 speaking stops. It was originally placed at the west side of the church. At the begin of the 20th century the firm of Van Dam & Bergmeijer replaced the Clarinet with a Voix Céleste. After the enlargement of the church the firm of Leeflang relocated in 1960 the organ into the new part of the church.

In the years 1967/1968 the instrument was adapted to the spirit of that time and enlarged. Consultant was Wim van der Panne. A independant pedal division was added, pedalcouplers, a new windsupply system with movable windchests bottoms. The windchests grids recieved ply wood toppings on both sides. Sliders were renewed with a spring system. Also the Hoofdwerk windchest was re-organized wereby the Boudon 16 and Violon 16 were removed to make place for a Mixtuur IV-VI. The Voix Céleste was also removed and its spot was taken by a Cymbel and a narrow scaled Dulciaan both on its own slider. Key- and stopaction were modernized. The organ was inaugurated on January 25, 1968. It was played by Wim van der Panne and G. van Campen.

In December 2017, the contract was signed for a complete restoration of the organ. Organ consultant Herman G. Kamp will supervise the project. In addition to the necessary restoration work, necessary sound improvements are also being made. The original sound of the instrument will be partially restored by undoing the works that have seriously affected the sound. Later (valuable) additions will be maintained and, where necessary, improved. The work will be inspired by Van Dam's original concept, but without extensive reconstruction or copying of other Van Dam instruments.

The windchest folding bellows are detached from the windchests and converted into independent bellows which are put under pressure with weights. This will make the rigid wind supply more flexible and natural.

The removed Violon 16' and Bourdon 16' will return. Historical Van Dam pipework is available for this. The Mixtuur will get a new composition. The Trumpet was rebuild with new shallots and tongues in 1968. Historical Van Dam material is also available to undo this. The bass / treble seperation will also be available again.

The Dulciaan and Cymbel which do not fit in the organ sound are removed. Their place will be taken by a Quintfluit and a new Klarinet.

The current arrangement of the pedal is very tight and the sound development is insufficient. Behind the organ a separate case will be made containing a wooden Prestant 16, the Octave 8 and a new Bazuin 16' with full length wooden resonators. The current pedal wind chest will accommodate the remaining voices.

The Hoofdwerk and Bovenwerk windchests are being restored, whereby the leather pulpets return. The Hoofdwerk windchest is enlarged with a side block for the Violon and Bourdon. The toeboards and pipe grids of the in 1968 placed stops will bee renewed or adapted in the Van Dam style.

Unfortunately, a good number of pipes were affected by corrosion, in particular the pipe feet. This was also noted in 1967/68 and part of the pipe feet had already been partially replaced. The pipework is then again re-racked.

The separate pedal case will be placed behind the organ. The case is partly set up and the first pipes have been placed. Between the existing organcase and the new pedal case a part of the new windsupply is located. The remaining part finds a place below the hoofdwerk windchest.

On Monday, August 10, the parts of the Van Dam organ were transported to Nunspeet and the assembly of the organ started.
