The organ present since 1958 in Achterberg was made by Willem Hardhoff in 1860. Two stops however are much older, around 1700. The organ was build for the Hervormde church of Baijum (Baaium). In 1876 already it was sold to the Christelijke Gereformeerde Kerk of Hallum, were it was relocated to by Fokke Bakker in 1877. In the Baijum Hardhoff placed a new and larger instrument. In 1928 the organ was sold by Bakker & Timmenga to the Hervormde Evangelisatie of Bergum. The stoplist was changed. Koppejan bought the organ in 1956 and placed it in Achterberg. This organ was restored by Van den Heuvel in 1975. The organ was inaugurated on March 13, 1976 with organist Ben van Oosten.
The organ had at that time a simple case without ornaments. Local organist A. Kleijer made new carvings for the organ case. He completed his work in 1980. In 1990 he also enlarged the instrument with a second manual.
