Vermeulen (1966, 16IIP)

In 1966, the Dutch organ builder Vermeulen (from Weert) built this organ with mechanical action in the chapel of Het Withof monastery in Etten-Leur (NL). The organ possess 16 stops divided over two manuals and pedal. The main organ case was assembled against the side wall of the chapel in Etten-Leur, while the pedal division was located in the brick alcove behind the main case.

In 2006, this chapel in Etten-Leur was closed and the sisters donated the organ to the parish church of St. Bartholomew in Zevenbergschen-Hoek. To keep the costs down, the relocation was carried out by volunteers under the direction of organ builder Henk Scheuerman. During the relocation, the specification of the pedal was modified: the Octaaf 4’ was replaced by an (used) Bazuin 16’ with zinc resonators that the organ builder has in stock. The organ was located to the right of the main altar in the liturgical center, so a visual barrier was constructed of oak on both sides to cover the pedal division. These oak side walls were made by Henk Scheuerman, the other modifications were carried out by volunteers.
