Bakker & Timmenga organ (1890, 17/IIP) for sale

In 1880 founded Fokke Bakker (1842-1904) and Arjen Timmenga (1854-1920) their organ building company in Leeuwarden (Netherlands). In the eighty years of their existence as a family business they have maintained their specific traditional hand crafted work. On July 31, 1904, Bakker died. Timmenga continued, from 1919 his son Bernard (1889-1972) became his partner. After the death of Arjen Timmenga (November 16th, 1920) Bernard continued to work in the company until 1960. Bakker & Timmenga built this organ in 1890 for the Reformed church of Heeg. The organ case was designed by the famous architect Tjeerd Kuipers. A special feature is that the specifications for the construction of the organ were drawn up by the organ building company Van Dam & Sohn, and that Bakker & Timmenga this organ built according to these specifications. In 1955 the organ was restored by the same company.

The asking price of only Euro 24.500 is certainly interesting for a motivated buyer. For the new owner of the church, however, it is very important that this beautiful, characteristic and valuable pipe organ will get a good ‘second life’, preferably in a church and a congregation that will use the organ frequently. Of course, the organ must skillfully dismantled and relocated. Van den Heuvel Orgelbouw has much experience in this field and signed an exclusive contract with the owner of the organ to find a good destination for the organ and to arrange the transfer. Dismantling, repair and restoration work as well as the re-installation and further completion of the historic organ, etc. will also be conducted by J.L. van den Heuvel-Orgelbouw. The costs of these activities depend on the specific needs of the client and eventual assistant of volunteers for work such as transport, electrical installation, (structural) adjustments, painting work etc.. We look forward to work out a specific written quotation for the desired work.

Assembly organ Sneek

The church council of the Protestant Congregation in Sneek has developed a plan to make the Martinikerk future-proof and multifunctional with a renovation. In the design by architect Kijlstra-Brouwer from Beetsterzwaag, the elliptical, green extension between the bell tower and the church building stands out. Much is being renovated and added on the inside. In 2021 the choir organ was disassembled and stored at the organ builder.
