Dorpskerk, Pernis

In 1926 a new Reformed Church was built in Pernis, designed by B. Hooijkaas, an architect in Rotterdam. The organ was moved from the old church, an instrument by the firm Gebr. Franssen from 1889. This organ was too small and later also appeared to have been affected by woodworm. On the advice of Piet van den Kerkhoff it was decided to have the firm G. van Leeuwen & Zoon build a new organ. The facade was designed by the architects B. Hooijkaas and B. van Veen. The console is on a gallery opposite the organ itself, which is placed above the pulpit. The new organ was put into use on 30 July 1939, with the advisor playing the organ. The church interior is still almost original. The organ has been preserved almost without changes. The Dubbelfluit 8 of the Hoofdwerk has been replaced by a Roerfluit 8 and the composition of the Mixtuur has been changed in the treble.

The electro-pneumatic action has been replaced by a new electric action (BUS system). All additional pneumatic relays have been omitted so that an action that functions as quickly as possible has been obtained. In addition to all magnets being renewed in a 24 volt version, the organ will receive a new electric control for the swell box, new wiring and a new 24 volt power supply.

The bellows for the Swell and Great/Pedal have been re-leathered. The Swell box was once covered with thin board and provided with a lowered ceiling after a leak. This ceiling has been renewed in 18mm thick sheet material and placed as high as possible. The covered walls have also been renewed in 18mm thick sheet material equal to the ceiling. The walls and ceiling are now more sound-reflecting and have a positive influence on the effect of the Swell.

The console has been completely overhauled, with the keyboards being restored and fitted with new key coverings. The woodwork has been cleaned and all layers of lacquer removed. Damage has been repaired and a new register board has been made for the register rockers. The wood work has then been re-lacquered. All electrical components have been renewed. The single free combination has been replaced by a setzer system with 10,000 freely programmable combinations.

The Fama & Raadgever organ in the church building of the Hersteld Apostolische zendingsgemeente in Haarlem was sold after mediation by Van den Heuvel-Orgelbouw to a prominent Belgian auditor/manager and classical music promoter. The organ was restored and expanded and placed in a beautiful mini private concert hall (originally an Orangerie).

The client also asked Van den Heuvel-Orgelbouw to produce the furniture in this private concert hall so that everything visually forms a unity with the purchased pipe organ. The design of the interior was developed in consultation with the client and Van den Heuvel-Orgelbouw by the Spanish interior designer Laura Recarte Olaran. In addition to the pipe organ, there will also be a harpsichord and a Pleyel table piano from 1830 in the hall, which will be used during private concerts organised by the client.

The extension of the organ consists of a new wind supply with two traditional bellows, new pedal chests with two oak wooden pedal stops. The existing Bourdon 16' has been shortened and four pipes (C-D#) have been added in style so that this stop has a wider scale. The second stop is a Principal 8', provided with roller beards and slender expressions.

Dorpskerk, Papendrecht

The German company Steinmeyer & Co. built for the Grote Kerk in Papendrecht. a new organ in 1923. It was given its current place in the church, above the pulpit, in 1929, after an enlargement and renovation of the church.

In the 1950s, on the initiative of organist Jan Koppenol, it was decided to have the organ overhauled and expanded by the company Pels & Zn. The dispositionstoplist was radically changed. Of the old main manual, only the Principal 8', the Concert Flute and the Octaaf 4' have been preserved. The Mixtuur was expanded with one rank, the Trumpet was renewed and four new registers were installed. On the swell, the Bourdon 16', the Terts and the Hobo were replaced by a Principal 4', a Scherp and a Dulciaan. The Quint was renamed to Nasard. The Violon 16 pedal was removed, as was the transmission of the Bourdon 16'. A Gedekt 8' was made using the pipework from this Bourdon. Pels also placed two electrical units on the pedal. (Octaafbas 8/Koraalbas 4 and Fagot 16/Trompet 8/Klaroen 4) The new instrument was put into use on May 27, 1958 with a performance by Koppenol. In 1985 Pels & Van Leeuwen carried out a restoration. Advisor on the work was Mr. A. Fonteijn from Rotterdam. A new electric action and new sliderchests for manuals were installed. A new organ case with pipes was also supplied, with the old zinc display pipes being reused. However, the stoplist has remained completely the same as in 1958. On September 3, 1985, the organ was put into use again with Jan Bonefaas playing.

In 2024, a renovation proved necessary: several registers no longer worked, three of the four bellows were in poor condition and the electric action proved to be very unreliable.

All the pipework has been removed from the windchests and the slider and engines have been made working normal again. The register engines are now mounted in such a way that disassembly is possible without removing all the pipework and toeboards. The windsupply has been completely restored, with the sheep leather of the bellows of the Hoofdwerk, Swellwerk and Pedal being completely replaced by cow leather. The electronics installed by Pels & Van Leeuwen (1985 and 1992) have been replaced by new ones.

Van Vulpen organ (1974, 9/IIP) for sale

Van Vulpen pipe organ builders was founded in 1940 by Rijk (192101997) and Jos (1922-2012) van Vulpen. They built organs in various style periods from neo-baroque until the 1970s when they started looking for a connection to historical instruments. The company built many church-, practice- and residence organs. The changing market for organ building and the retirement of an older generation of organ builders has led to takeovers in recent years. The Van Vulpen company merged with Elbertse in 2023. Together with Verschueren the Organ Building Collaboration EVV (Elbertse, Verschueren, Van Vulpen) was then founded.

Bakker & Timmenga organ (1904) for sale

The organ was designed and built for the Reformed Church of Wommels. In 1916 the organ was expanded with a Trumpet 8'. Maintenance was carried out by Bakker & Timmenga in 1951. The organ was restored in 1971 by organ builder Fonteijn & Gaal. The reformed church building has now been closed and sold.

The instrument was almost completely in its original condition. It can be described as a stylish and characteristic instrument of high quality. The sound is beautiful, robust and authentic. At the request of the church council, the organ was purchased by organ builder Van den Heuvel in Dordrecht. It was dismantled shortly afterwards and moved to Van den Heuvel's workshops. The organ there has recently been thoroughly restored.

The painting work on the organ case has not (yet) been carried out; these can be adapted to the buyer's specific wishes. This painting work, as well as the installation of the electricity and any further desired (structural) adjustments, can be carried out by the organ builder or under the buyer's own management. The original balustrade parts on the left and right of the organ case, and the heavy profile molding under the organ and the balustrades are available for processing at the new location!
